Jeelakarra & Bellamu - Telugu marriage custom

The priest recites the wedding shlokas from the Vedas. Thereafter, the couple is asked to place their hands, which contains a paste made from cumin seeds and jaggery in a betel leaf, on each other's heads at the exact muhurtam time.The slightly bitter cumin seeds and sweet jaggery when ground turn into an inseparable paste, communicating that that the bride and groom are inseparable through lifes bitter and sweet moments. This is referred to as Jeelakarra-Bellamu custom.
